Playgroups
We presently have more than 35 playgroups, which meet once a week on a day chosen by the group. Groups are formed around children within a 6 month age span to make socializing for the kids and the parents easier. Most groups welcome fathers to come with the child. We are currently also forming a playgroup for working moms and another for stay-at-home dads. The Club assists members by forming the initial group, setting up the first meeting, and providing ideas about how to help a playgroup thrive.

Social Activities and Outings
The RVMC has several social activies and outings for mom, children, and the whole family. For example, mom can enjoy herself and meet other moms at such events as our "Night of Nails" or "Mom's Night Out". Our socials offer mom an opportunity to enjoy some great food and some adult conversation in a fun atmosphere. We also host events the entire family can enjoy together, year such as our Summer Family Picnic, Halloween Party, Winter Holiday Party, and Spring Treasure Hunt. There are also specific outings for the kids throughout the year such as: a firehouse tour, an ice-cream social in the park, and a visit to the pumpkin patch. Other events such as Mocha Mondays and Kids-n-Mocktails offer a way to include children while interacting with other moms.

Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
There are several small groups within the Mothers' Club formed by people with similar interests and hobbies. Book club, Flick Chicks (our movie group) , running groups, album/scrapbook groups, Infant Hiking, Working Mom's Group and a knitting group are examples of a few SIGs currently operating. Newsletter
Every two months, we publish "The Back Fence" to keep members informed of club activities and community events. Other features include recipes and parenting advice. On the "off" months, we print a simpler calendar, listing current and upcoming RVMC meetings, parties, etc. All members are welcome to submit articles to the newsletter.

We accept advertising in "The Back Fence" to offset the cost of copying and mailing the newsletter. Club members may sell used baby clothes or other professional items as classifieds at no cost but they must pay for ads promoting professional services or businesses. Rates are business card size (2 x 3.5) at $30/month or quarter page size (3.5 x 4.5) at $45/month. There is a 10% discount for 3 issues paid in advance; a 20% discount for 6 issues (ie: one year) paid in advance. Camera ready copy is due approximately one month before the publication dates (February 1, April 1, June 1, August 1, October 1, and December 1).
